White Water Rafting Trips Near Fort William

Fort William has recently been crowned The Outdoor Capital Of The U.K. and a large reason for this is the world class white water rafting and kayaking on offer within a short drive of the town. Highland Activities run white water rafting trips based from our centre at The Great Glen Water Park at South Laggan which is 24 miles from the town centre. We have based ourselves here because we are located just a couple of miles away from 2 of our favourite local rivers, The River Garry & River Oich.

White Water Rafting River Garry  £50 pp

A fantastic grade 3 & 4 white water rafting adventure for everyone! The River Garry is in our opinion the best guaranteed white water rafting experience in Scotland. Scheduled dam releases give us guaranteed water levels from April until October once per week. Great for adventure lovers, adrenaline junkies & adventurous families! Only happens once a week, don’t miss out

White water rafting on the River Garry is an exhilarating experience and there are 6 big rapids such as Double or Quits, “Surfs Up, Hey Diddle Diddle, and the tunnel of love. Big bouncy waves, drops, stoppers and plenty of surfing is the order of the day check out the video & images below to see the action for yourself!

Other rivers that are used for white water rafting in Scotland can require a lot of rain to get them into condition. When the dam releases water from April to October the River Garry is a classic grade 3 and 4 white water experience, it’s that good we run it twice per trip!

River Rafting Safari River Oich £45 pp

A gentle river rafting experience with beautiful scenery, small bouncy rapids and fun games on the way to Loch Ness. A great trip for anyone looking for a nice river rafting experience without the full on adrenaline of white water rafting. Fantastic fun adventure for families with younger children.

River Awe £45 pp

If you are in the Fort William area and can’t make the River Garry release day then you also have the option of a drive down to the Oban area for a trip down the River Awe (approx 1 hour 15 mins). The River Awe is another guaranteed dam controlled river that runs every day at grade 2 & 3 from May until October. A great introduction to white water rafting and a good fun family activity. If you would like a more exciting trip down the River Awe you may wish to run the river in our 2 man white water funyaks!
