Family Friendly Outdoor Activities

The Experience

Your activity day will start at 9.30 a.m. at our centre at The Great Glen Water Park where you will meet your instructor for the first activity of the day which will normally be a 2 hour instructed canoeing or kayaking session. After getting fitted out with all of your equipment your instructor will give you an activity briefing on dry land before taking you out on to Loch Oich to teach you the basics needed for forward paddling, backwards paddling & turning. There are lots of fun ways to learn to canoe or kayak including games and short journeys & there is also time left at the end of the session to try a capsize drill if you wish, although this is optional.

Lunch Break

Please note that lunch is not provided within this package but you are welcome to bring a packed lunch to enjoy at the loch side or we would be more than happy to point you in the direction of somewhere to eat locally.

Afternoon

After lunch you will embark on a short mountain biking adventure locally with one of our instructors who will give you some basic instruction on bike handling, gears and braking techniques before leading the way and offering any top tips and handy hints if required.

It is helpful for us to know in advance of your height & inside leg measurement to be able to reserve the correct size bikes for you in advance. You are welcome to bring your own bikes as long as they are deemed to be suitable and safe by your instructor.

After your mountain bike trip your archery session will begin with a briefing on safety & technique before you start to practice and get your aim in to hopefully hit the bullseye! Once you are all feeling confident we will finish off the session with a fun competition.

What Else Do I Need To Know?

All specialist equipment is provided for all of your activitiesbut please bring a towel, swimwear & pair of old trainers that you don’t mind getting wet for the water sports & don’t forget your lunch!
